Sailing at Tokyo Olympics: Varun Thakkar, KC Ganapathy finish creditable 7th in Race 6
KC Ganapathy/Varun Thakkar finished seventh in the sixth 49er race and are 17th overall. In the laser, Vishnu Saravanan is 22nd and Nethra Kumanan 32nd overall, Vishnu Saravanan is placed 23rd while Nethra Kumanan is placed 31st overall in the women's laser radial class.
With six more races to go, the Indian pair is placed 17th overall. Vishnu Saravanan and Nethra Kumanan emerged 23rd and 31st overall in the laser standard and radial categories, respectively. Vishnu came 27th and 23rd in races 7 and 8 while Nethra had to be content with 22nd and 20th place finishes. Only two more races each remain in radial and standard.

Swiss and the Portuguese teams, who finished sixth and seventh respectively, were handed an automatic ‘U Flag’ disqualification for being over the start line in the minute before the starting signal was sounded. As a result, the Irish team, who finished eighth, were moved up to sixth and the Indian pair upgraded to seventh.
The KC Ganapathy & Varun Thakkar team was fourth after the second mark but fell back to ninth after the third and eventually finished in that position before going up to seventh.
